Pro Bono Event - Short Film & Panel Discussion of Prison Terminal: The Last Days of Private Jack Hall

  • 10/05/2016
  • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Albany Law School, 80 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208

Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York will host its annual event for National Pro Bono Week. Each year focuses on a different theme. This year’s theme will be death and dying while incarcerated and will include a screening of Prison Terminal: The Last Days of Private Jack Hall, a short film highlighting one man’s final days in the Iowa State Penitentiary. Nominated for an Academy Award, the film provides a rarely seen look into prison hospice programs.

After the screening will be a panel discussion with Edgar Barens, the film’s director, and David Leven, Executive Director of End of Life Choices NY, followed by a reception.

Prior to the film, PLS will present awards to volunteers from across the state for their pro bono service to incarcerated New Yorkers.

Tickets for the screening and panel discussion  are $20.00 and are available at:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/prison-terminal-tickets-27339926456
